COZY THROW BLANKETS IN 30 DAYS FOR MEMPHIS' NEW WOMEN + CHILDREN'S SHELTER!
The Hospitality Hub has been working to end homelessness in Memphis since2007. Their new Hub Campus, which will provide expanded services, a day plaza and a women’s shelter, will be opening later this year. This women’s shelter will be the region’s first barrier-free trauma-informed emergency shelter for women. The building fills a gap in services that’s been in our city for over 20 years. Right now, 37% of the homeless population are women, while only 6% of the shelter beds are for women.
The Hub will invite each guest (women and children) to choose a cozy throw blanket when they arrive. With 31 beds for women and 17 trundles for children, they’ll need 48 blankets just to get started, but the need will continue throughout the life of the shelter. With a high-turn over expectation, they’d like to have 150 light, bright, happy and cozy blankets before they open this summer.
